Scripko Signs With Liberty Volleyball
Liberty University Head Volleyball Coach Shane Pinder has announced the signing of Nicki Scripko to a national letter of intent for the 2007-08 academic year.
Scripko (6-1, OH, Fayetteville, N.C.) just completed her senior season at Fayetteville Christian School, where she led the Warriors to the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) 2A state title match for the second-consecutive year.
"We are excited about the signing of Nicki," remarked Pinder. "She will bring size and athleticism to our program and will impact our roster immediately at the outside hitter position. One of the most exciting things about Nicki is her versatility. In fact, the only position I have not seen her play is libero. Outside of her talent on the floor, Nicki is a quality person who possesses an incredible amount of leadership ability and love for the game. She is a great fit for Liberty."

A NCISAA 2A All-State performer for the fourth-straight season, Scripko led Fayetteville Christian in kills (404), attack percentage (.415), aces (85) and digs (84) during her senior campaign. She was at her best in the state quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match, hitting .456 with 77 total kills.

Scripko, who also attracted interest from North Carolina, Hawaii and Minnesota, was named one of the top 250 seniors in the nation by She helped Fayetteville Christian capture conference titles during each of her four years in high school, the Eastern Plains Independent Conference (EPIC) crown from 2003-05 and the Cape Fear Independent Conference (CFIC) championship as a senior. Each season, Scripko was named the conference player of the year. The Fayetteville Observer tabbed her as its All-Cape Fear Region Volleyball Player of the Year three times (2004-06).

Scripko has excelled on the softball diamond as well, earning a quartet of NCISAA 2A All-State accolades. She ranks 15th in her senior class and is a member of the National Honor Society.

"Offensively, Nicki was our ‘go-to' player whether she was in the front row or back row," noted Fayetteville Head Volleyball Coach Chuck Donnell. "Defensively, opposing coaches tried to keep their hitters from hitting in her direction because they knew what an awesome defender Nicki is. Aside from being an amazing athlete, she is an inspirational leader and a very supportive teammate. I am constantly being told by opposing players and coaches how much respect Nicki showed them during matches and how amazed they were with the joy and enthusiasm she plays with."
