Freshman Erin Curry won three individual events, and swam on the winning 200 medley relay, Friday against Radford.
The Liberty swimming team won 13 out of 14 events contested Friday, downing Radford, 172-116, in conference dual-meet action at the LaHaye Aquatics Center. The Lady Flames (2-0) remain undefeated during the early portion of their schedule, while Radford falls to 2-4 on the campaign. These two teams will meet again next month at the Radford Invitational, and for a third time at the CCSA Championships in February. Liberty posted 1-2-3 finishes in both of the relays, and also had the first three finishers in both the 50 free and 500 free. Freshman Erin Curry, the reigning CCSA Swimmer of the Week, broke the program record in the 200 individual medley (IM), swimming a time of 2:16.35. She also won the 1000 free (11:06.21) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.34), and swam on the winning 200 medley relay. Bethany Wakeley claimed victory in both butterfly events. She won the 100 fly in a time of 59.30, and clocked 2:12.04 to prevail in the 200 fly. Emily Duff won the 500 free, swimming a time of 5:16.28. Duff also earned victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.30. Brye Ravettine touched the wall first during the 50 freestyle, in 24.01. Marley Cripe swam a 53.77 in taking first place in the 100 free, while Cori Gary (2:01.39) was victorious in the 200 free. Jennifer Garzinski won the 100 breaststroke, clocking a 1:12.69 to best the field. Radford earned one swimming victory, as Jessica Frazelle won the 200 back in 2:09.68. Liberty returns to action next Friday, as the Lady Flames will compete in a dual meet at Campbell. Friday's meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
