Rocco Announces Chapman's Indefinite Suspension

Liberty University Head Football Coach Danny Rocco has announced that he has suspended senior nose guard Asa Chapman indefinitely for a violation of University policies.

"Due to an incident that occurred on Friday night (Aug. 26), I find it in the best interest of our program to suspend Asa Chapman indefinitely at this time," commented Rocco.

"Asa has a court date set for Sept. 12, at which time we will have a much better understanding of the charges that have been brought up against him. As we begin our season, it is important that our program maintains its focus and continues to prepare for its match-up with N.C. State on Saturday."

Chapman, a two-year starter on the defensive line, was a Phil Steele fourth-team All-American last year after finishing the 2010 season with a career-high 41 stops, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. The Orange, Va., native was a Big South preseason all-conference selection and named to the Sports Network preseason All-America team this August.
