Spring Football Game Moved to Monday Night

Due to the forecasted severe inclement weather for most of the day on Saturday, the Liberty University Athletics Department has announced it has moved the annual spring football game to Monday night.

Kickoff for the intra-squad scrimmage is now slated for 7:15 p.m., on the turf at Williams Stadium. The event will still be free of charge and open to the general public.

During the two-hour event, head coach Danny Rocco will split his squad up into white and blue teams, giving the annual event more of a traditional game setting than past years.

Liberty's first-team offense and second-team defense will be pitted against the Flames' first-team defense and second-team offensive units. A select group of players will be able to play for both squads at the coaching staff's discretion.

The Flames will play four 12-minute quarters with a running game clock until the final two minutes of each half, where regular in-game clock rules will apply. Additionally, plays on the quarterbacks will not be "live" nor will the Flames have live kickoff or punt returns.

Liberty will hold its final tune-up practice, No. 14 of the spring, this afternoon at 4:15 p.m. The 90-minute session will be a walkthrough practice for Monday night's spring game.
