Jesse Sanders earned more postseason honors, as the tandem was tabbed to the NABC All-Distict Second Team.
Liberty guards Jesse Sanders and Evan Gordon have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 3 All-District Second Team, as announced by the association, recently.
The honor marks the second postseason recognition for the tandem. On Feb. 28, Sanders became the first player in school history to be voted Big South Player of the Year, while Gordon was named second team all-conference.
Sanders led the Big South in assists this season, handing out a league-high 183 and averaging 5.7 per game. He also was 11th in rebounding at 6.0 per game and averaged 11.4 points in 32 games played.
The first player in Big South history with 500 career rebounds and 400 career assists, Sanders had eight games this season with at least eight rebounds and 14 games with at least seven assists. He recorded three double-doubles as well as his Big South-record third career triple-double during the 2010-11 campaign.
Gordon led the Flames in scoring with 14.4 points per game (eighth in the Big South). The guard also paced the team in free throw percentage (76.2, ninth in conference) and three-point field goal percentage (33.7, fourth).
This season, the Flames garnered a 19-13 record and 13-5 record in Big South conference play, setting a new program record for most conference wins in a single season.
