Giancarlo Lemmi and Shea Thomas earned a win at No. 3 doubles for the Flames against Old Dominion.
Old Dominion scored a 6-1 victory over the Liberty men's tennis team in a non-conference matchup, defending its home court at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Courts in Norfolk, Va., Friday afternoon.
Liberty (1-5) picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles, but Old Dominion (10-2) took the other two, securing the doubles point to open the match. The Flames' junior-freshman combination of Giancarlo Lemmi and Shea Thomas won their match, 8-6 over Albert Ochagavia and Alfredo Rodriguez.
The Flames were able to win one singles match on the day against the host Monarchs. Junior Mandeep Yadev earned his victory by taking two close sets, 7-5, 7-6 over Clay Cypert in the No. 6 singles match-up.
Three Flames nearly forced a deciding third set in their respective matches, but were edged out by their hosts. Siim Tuus and Lemmi dropped 7-6 sets in each of their match-ups, while Thomas also lost a close one in his match, 7-5.
The Flames face a quick turnaround, as they visit Richmond tomorrow evening in a 5 p.m. contest.
