We have a pleasant, sunny start to day two, but there is a chance of thunderstorms later on. I'll keep you posted on any weather developments and possible delays in the schedule. I do know that I will be vacating my perch atop the press box if any severe weather strikes, because sitting under a tent at the highest point of the stadium during a thunderstorm does not seem very prudent.
We will have seven Liberty athletes to keep track of today, including Elliot Galeone in the men's javelin, Melinda Bendik in the women's hammer, Ryan Smith in the men's shot put, Clarence Powell in the men's high jump, Olivia Charnuski in the women's 100 hurdles, Jaime Watson in the women's 800 and Evans Kigen in the men's steeplechase. Hopefully some of them can join Sam Chelanga in qualifying for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
For the second straight meet, I will be utilizing the CoveritLive blog interface. Please feel free to send along any comments and questions throughout the weekend, and I'll do my best to address them in a timely manner. Go Flames!
