The Liberty women's basketball team jumped out to a 13-0 lead in its 2009-10 season-opening win over Winston-Salem State and rarely slowed down. The Lady Flames finished with a 27-6 record and claimed their 13th Big South Conference title in the last 14 seasons, despite having only one senior on the roster.

Head coach Carey Green's young squad enjoyed a memorable, record-breaking season, which came to an end with a hard-fought 83-77 loss to Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.
