The Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis team fell for the first time this season, Sunday, dropping a 7-0 decision to the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs, inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Liberty drops to 1-1 on the year. Old Dominion, ranked 52nd in the country, moves to 3-1. In doubles, Old Dominion took both contested doubles matches. Liberty's No. 1 pairing of Jordan Jenkins and Hannah Fick played a tight contest with Nadine Farhoum and Joanna Dobrowolska,, before dropping the No. 1 match-up, 8-6. The Lady Monarchs continued their winning ways in singles. The No. 1 singles match feature the No. 21 ranked singles player, Farhoum, and the No. 124 ranked singles player, Jenkins. The Lady Monarch claimed the victory, 6-1, 6-2. Lady Flame Fick came close to forcing a tiebreaking third set in her No. 3 contest with Irina Dementyeva, falling 6-2, 7-6 (4). Liberty will meet West Virginia in the first of two matches next weekend at the Greenbriar Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
