Bekah Moye scored her first career goal, pacing the Lady Flames past the High Point Panthers, 2-0, Saturday night, at Millis Stadium. With the win, the Lady Flames tie the 2005 squad for longest unbeaten streak in program history, with seven. Liberty also remains the only unbeaten team in the Big South.

The first half was evenly played, with each team taking six shots during the first 45 minutes.

The Panthers took the first shot of the contest in the fourth minute when Laura Shupe lobbed one toward the goal, but Liberty keeper Karen Blocker was in place to make the save. Shupe made another attempt at 8:35 after a free kick, but missed wide.

Madison Short took Liberty's first shot of the contest at 20:36 after a free kick from Rachel Wisehart, but the shot was saved by High Point goalkeeper Marisa Abbott.

Liberty nearly took an early lead in the 26th minute, but Maria Owen's point-blank shot was stopped by a diving Abbott. The Lady Flames then had two consecutive corner kicks, but couldn't take advantage of the scoring opportunity, and the game remained scoreless.

Short made another attempt at 30:27 from 20 yards out, but the blast was again turned away by Abbott.

Blocker made a big save with just over 13 minutes remaining in the half, diving to stop a shot by Casey Greco.

Laura Nyholt blasted a shot late in the first half, at 41:50, but it missed wide from the left side.

Moye broke away down the right side, and took advantage of Abbott being out of the goal, tucking one in the left corner of the net with nine second remaining in the half. Short was awarded the assist on the play.

With the goal, Liberty went to intermission with a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers pressure the Lady Flames' net early in the second half, as Katie Taber pushed one toward the goal at 46:27, but it was turned away again by Blocker.

Nyholt took the first Liberty shot of the second period at 56:31, her second of the match, but it was stopped by Abbott.

Bentley missed wide in the 71st minute, and Owen's shot in the 74th minute was saved by Abbott. Betancourt tried to add to the score on a free kick, but her shot at 78:30 missed wide left.

Liberty added to the lead in the 85th minute, when Aimee Luurtsema scored off a free kick from Betancourt, extending the score to 2-0, Lady Flames.

Liberty maintained control for the remainder of the contest, sealing the 2-0 win.

Blocker made 11 saves in goal for Liberty, recording her sixth shutout of the year. The Lady Flames keeper has allowed only one goal in her last six games, and has not yielded a goal in her last three contests.

Abbott made four saves for the Panthers.

High Point held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2.

Liberty improves to 7-6-1 overall, and 4-0-1 in Big South play, while the Panthers drop to 2-13-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Big South.

Liberty takes the field again on Oct. 24, hosting Big South opponent Radford at Osborne Stadium. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Panthers are also back in action on Oct. 24, hosting VMI at 6 p.m.
