The Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams collected nine first-place finishes as the Flames hosted their second indoor event, the Liberty Collegiate Invitational this evening at the Tolsma Track Center.

Leading the way for the women's team was Kena Butts as she jumped a national provisional mark of 1.78m in the high jump, while Charlene Hilbert picked up wins in the 400m dash (1:00.05) and the long jump (5.75m) as she was the Lady Flames' only multiple winner. Tra Screen won the 200m dash in a time of 26.65 and Rebekah Walquist won the 300m run, running 11:18.82. The team of Butts, Hilbert, Jenni Santino and Jamie Watson won the women's 4x400m relay as Liberty's women won six events.

On the men's side, Ravanno Ferguson won the 60m dash with a time of 6.94 and led the way for the men in the 4x400m relay as Javan Carter, Phil Leineweber and Josh Gilreath were also on the first-place team that ran 3:21.11. Matt Parker was the only other Liberty runner to pick-up a victory as he won the 60mH in a time of 8.44.

The Flames had a strong showing from their freshmen with Lieneweber, Paker, Carter, Markus Greenleaf and Orande Vassel leading the way and showing a glimpse into the future of the men's program.

This marked the final event of the calendar year for both the men's and women's teams as the Flames will next be in action on January 27-28 when they host the Liberty Fast Times at the Tolsma Track Center. The two-day event is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
