Liberty goalkeeper Danny Cordero has been selected as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Cordero, who received the honor on March 2, played a key role in Liberty's 1-0 overtime victory over Bellarmine in an ASUN Conference match on Saturday.
The sophomore from San Jose, Costa Rica recorded his seventh shutout of the year in the contest. He made a career-high eight saves, including jumping up to deflect a rising Bellarmine shot over the crossbar and out of harm's way early in the contest. He also made a sliding save of a shot on a breakaway attempt during the 78th minute.
Cordero has played every minute in goal for the Flames, this season. He has posted a 0.53 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage.
Cordero and Liberty travel to Nashville, Tenn., for an ASUN Conference match against the Lipscomb Bisons on Saturday. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
