Melody Jayroe Named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week

For the second time in her career, Liberty's goalkeeper, Melody Jayroe, has been named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.

The honor comes after Jayroe allowed just one goal in 220 minutes of action against Old Dominion and James Madison. Starting last week against Old Dominion, Jayroe posted her first shutout of the season and the 14th of her career, in a 0-0 draw against ODU.

In the final game of the weekend, the ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year allowed just one goal in 110 minutes of action against James Madison. Throughout the week, Jayroe faced 21 shots and came up with 10 saves. For the season, Jayroe is posting a 0.87 goals against average.

Jayroe and the Lady Flames will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 25, for their first home game of the season against Western Carolina. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
