Liberty's Carly White, Anna Keebler and Sarah Steenson were each honored with selection to the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference team on Friday afternoon. White also was unanimously named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Additionally, the Lady Flames were selected to finish second in the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll for a second straight year. Liberty received one first-place vote and 28 points in the poll, behind three-time defending champion Jacksonville, who garnered the other three first-place votes and 31 points. Kennesaw State (third, 24 points) and Stetson (fourth, 21 points) rounded out the poll.

"This is going to be a great year for program. We have a special group of seniors that are not only strong players but exceptional leaders and people," said Liberty eighth-year head coach Kelly Nangle. "They choose to get better and push their teammates every single day, and because of that, we have been flourishing. It is no surprise to us to see a few of them recognized on the preseason team. This is only the beginning. Go Flames!"

White and Steenson are both two-time ASUN Preseason All-Conference team recipients after receiving the same recognition in 2020. This is White's first preseason major award. Keebler is making her first appearance on a preseason all-conference team.

White, a fifth-year senior from Marietta, Ga., is the only player in school history to earn first team all-conference distinction in each of her first three seasons. The midfielder and team captain earned ASUN All-Conference first team honors as a junior in 2019. In a shortened 2020 season, White led the team in ground balls (20), caused turnovers (15) and draw controls (32) while adding  seven goals (fourth on team), six assists (second on team) and 13 points (fourth on team) in just six games. The midfielder earned VaSID Women's Lacrosse All-State second team honors for her efforts.

In 2020, she ranked No. 4 in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.50) and No. 15 in ground balls per game (3.33). White is the program's all-time leader in career ground balls (167) and ranks second in school history in caused turnovers (88), draw controls (197), assists (62) and free-position goals (24). She also ranks sixth in points (159) and ninth in goals (97).

Keebler, a fourth-year junior attacker, was off to a historic start to the 2020 season with a team-best 24 goals in six games, including a pair of six-goal games. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native ranked 11th nationally in goals per game (4.00), 17th in shot percentage (.632) and 29th in total goals (24).  Keebler was on pace to score over 70 goals last season. The program record for goals in a season is 52, held by Katy Pridemore (2015). Keebler has 70 career goals and is only 12 goals away from entering the program's top 10 for career goals.

Steenson, a fifth-year senior defender, is making an appearance on preseason all-conference team for a second straight year. A 2019 ASUN All-Conference second team honoree, Steenson earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week distinction once last year (March 10, 2020). The Haymarket, Va., native recoded 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in five games in 2020. She generated a career-best six caused turnovers in Liberty's final game a season ago versus Robert Morris. Entering her final season, Steenson ranks No. 7 in program history with 68 career caused turnovers.

The Lady Flames will open their 2021 campaign at home versus Virginia Tech, Feb. 12. Liberty's first ASUN contest will take place on April 16 against Kennesaw State.
