Successful Day 2 Leaves Liberty in 3rd at TYR '85 Invite

Liberty won three out of five individual events contested on day two of the 2020 TYR '85 Invite, Saturday at the Liberty Natatorium.

Following two days of competition, Campbell leads with 1,923 points, followed by UNC Asheville (1,689) and Liberty (1,353).  

After winning two individual events last night, Liberty claimed three individual-event titles on day two (400 IM, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke).

Notable
• Freshman Chloe Harris kept her winning streak alive in the 400 IM (4:30.33), as she has now won the 400 IM in all three of Liberty's meets so far this season. Senior Kiah Francis swam 4:29.82 in the B Final, giving Liberty each of the top two 400 IM times in finals.     
• Jessica Schellenboom (1:03.66) earned the victory in the 100 breaststroke, defeating the nearest competitor by 1.52 seconds.
• Keiner has won the 100 backstroke each of the last five meets that she has contested the event, a streak which includes the 2020 CCSA Championships.
• Suggs' 1:52.09 for 500 free, Francis' 4:29.82 for 400 IM, Schellenboom's 100 breaststroke (1:03.66) and Keiner's 100 back (54.70) were all the fastest by a Lady Flame in their respective events this season.
• Liberty posted also posted season-best times in the 800 free relay (7:40.85).
• Liberty received lifetime-best swims from Cailin Carroll (1:04.78) and Maggie Huenefeld (1:06.78) in the 100 breaststroke
• Campbell is has now appeared at all three Liberty-hosted invitationals, while UNC Asheville is making its debut at the TYR '85 Invite.
• This week's invitational gives teams a preview of a prelims-finals program that will be used at the 2021 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships.

Notable
• Harris' 4:30.33 for the 400 IM ranks ninth on the program's all-time top 10 performers list in the event.

The TYR '85 Invite concludes with day three, beginning with prelims of the 200 backstroke at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Finals start at 5 p.m. with the seeded final of the 1,650 freestyle and end with the 400 free relay.
