The 2015 Liberty team posted a school-record 19 wins.
In conjunction with each institution's sports information office, the ASUN Conference has announced each member school's top team in women's tennis program history. The 2015 squad was recognized as Liberty's top women's tennis team, with the 2016, 2018 and 2019 teams each earning honorable mention.
Top Women's Tennis Season – 2015 The 2015 Lady Flames posted a school-record 19 wins during the spring season against only five total losses. Liberty finished 7-2 in Big South competition and reached the semifinals of the Big South Women's Tennis Championship.
The 2015 season also saw the Lady Flames defeat a ranked opponent, No. 71 Pacific (5-2 final score on March 10, 2015), for the first time in program history. Liberty finished ninth in the ITA's Atlantic Region ranking, the third time in school history the Lady Flames appeared in the poll at season's end.
The 2015 team featured a pair of Big South All-Conference performers in Brittany Yang and Maria Khval. Yang and Khval each earned Big South All-Conference doubles honors, while Khval was also named to the Big South All-Conference singles squad. Yang also earned Big South Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year status. Yang and Khval went on to become the first doubles tandem in program history to be recognized as VaSID All-State doubles squad.
The 2015 squad also featured Yang as a VaSID Academic All-State recipient. The Lady Flames earned ITA All-Academic Team status, and all nine players earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
Honorable Mention – 2016, 2018 and 2019 Led by 2016 Big South Coach of the Year Jeff Maren, Liberty (15-10, 8-1 Big South) earned a share of the Big South regular-season title and advanced to the title match of the Big South Women's Tennis Championship. The Lady Flames featured four Big South All-Conference selections in Evangeline Crist, Maria Khval, Valerie Thong and Anna Dollar. Crist and Thong each collected a program-record 28 doubles victories during the 2015-16 season
The 2018 Lady Flames won 18 total matches, the second most in a single season in school history, and finished 7-1 in Big South competition. Liberty played in the Big South title match for the second time in three seasons and finished as the runner-up in what was its last season in the conference prior to joining the ASUN. A program-record seven Lady Flames were selected as Big South All-Conference team performers.
Guided by ASUN Coach of the Year Jeff Maren, the 2019 Liberty team ushered in a new era in the ASUN by posting a 6-1 mark in the conference and 15-7 overall record, earning a share of the ASUN regular season title. The Lady Flames featured two players in the national singles rankings during the season in seniors Lara Soares (No. 64) and Ashley Bongart (No. 107). Kalani Soli was named to the ASUN All-Conference first team, while Alexandra Almborg garnered inclusion on the ASUN All-Freshmen team.
