As Liberty Athletics continues to carry out its #CreatedEqually campaign, the Liberty men's basketball program is 100 percent registered to vote on National Voters Registration Day.
"I can't say enough about our group and not just as basketball players, but in their commitment to try and be a part of something that is bigger than themselves,' Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay said. "On their own accord and initiative, they all collaborated to register to vote, to try and make a difference and make their voice count."
All 16 players, coaches and staff members registered to vote, joining the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches' Voter Engagement Pledge. This campaign was launched in July as part of the student-athlete voting initiative from the NABC and the nonpartisan ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. Coaches from all levels of the sport were encouraged to pledge their commitment to registering 100 percent of their eligible student-athletes and to support voter education and turnout.
"I am really blessed to have an opportunity to be around them and learn from them in so many areas," McKay added. "I am excited about the decisions that they will make and hopefully we will continue to strive to be a part of the body."
