Following the Flames' fifth practice of the preseason, Liberty Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze virtually met with the media to discuss his team's progress on Monday.
Liberty held its first full team practice on August 7 since the COVID-19 pandemic halted spring practice on March 13. Leading into the official opening of preseason training camp next week, the Flames worked out for the fifth time this month on Monday morning.
Freeze talked about the development of quarterbacks Malik Willis and Chris Ferguson, the depth he has in his running back room and discussed some of the newcomers that have impressed him following five practices.
Freeze also revealed Liberty's 2020 season opening game will now be on September 19 at Western Kentucky. The Flames home opener will be on September 26 against FIU. Freeze concluded the schedule discussion by saying he hopes Liberty can announce a completed 10-game schedule later this week.
