Catcher/Outfielder Jonathan Embry has been named to 2011-20 ASUN Baseball All-Decade team.

The 2019 ASUN Player of the Year during Liberty's first season in the conference, former Flames catcher/outfielder Jonathan Embry, is one of 36 student-athletes named to the 2011-20 ASUN Baseball All-Decade team, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.   Throughout the month of July, the ASUN has been recognizing each sport's top student-athletes from the recently completed decade. Liberty spent the final year and a half of the decade as a conference member after joining the ASUN on July 1, 2018.
The Flames have quickly made their presence known in the ASUN Conference, as eight different Liberty squads have won at least one ASUN team title over the last two years. Liberty captured the 2018-19 Bill Bibb Trophy, which is awarded to the ASUN Conference institution with the top overall athletic program.
During his lone season in the ASUN, Embry garnered not only the 2019 ASUN Player of the Year, but the 2019 ASUN Tournament MVP as the Flames posted a 43-21 and won the ASUN Championship in their first season in the conference. The first team all-conference team member lead the ASUN in runs scored with 55 and walks with 54. The Louisville, Ky., native finished the year with a .312 batting average, a .454 on base percentage and 44 RBI in 64 games. He posted a .538 slugging percentage for the season, belting 11 home runs and collecting 16 doubles, both team highs.
Along with leading the league in runs scored and walks, Embry also finished the year second in the ASUN in home runs and on base percentage. The catcher/outfielder also completed the year fourth in the conference in slugging percentage. He was ASUN Player of the Week for March 18-24 and also posted 18 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI contests.
Embry was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 10th round of the 2019 MLB Baseball Draft.
