This marks the second straight year White has earned all-state status.
Liberty women's lacrosse senior Carly White was honored on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Women's Lacrosse All-State second team, it was announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
This marks the second straight year White has earned second team all-state honors. The senior midfielder is now one of only three players in program history to earn VaSID All-State recognition in back-to-back years, joining Colleen Ekert (2015-16) and Nina Dunay (2014-15).
In six games in 2020, White led the squad in draw controls (32), ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (15). The Marietta, Ga., native ranked fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.50), 15th in ground balls per game (3.33) and 39th in draw controls per game (5.33). The senior also placed second on the team in assists (6) and finished fourth in goals (7) and points (13).
White, who served as a captain for a second straight year, established a new career high with 10 draw controls at Oregon on Feb. 8 and also tallied three goals in that contest. The Georgia native notched five or more draw controls in four games.
White had four games with three or more ground balls, including a season-best seven ground balls at Richmond (Feb. 29). She also generated three or more caused turnovers on four occasions. Her efforts helped Liberty finish No. 2 in the country in caused turnovers per game (14.83) and No. 10 in ground balls per game (21.00).
White is the program's all-time leader in career ground balls (167) and ranks second in program history in assists (62), draw controls (197) caused turnovers (88) and free-position goals (24), sixth in points (159) and ninth in goals (97).
White and Liberty finished the season with a 3-3 mark, including a 3-0 home record, before spring sports were halted on March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lady Flames have featured 12 all-state players in head coach Kelly Nangle's seven years as head coach.
