Liberty women's tennis players Kalani Soli and Esther Lovato were each honored on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Women's Tennis All-State teams, announced on Thursday.

Both Soli and Lovato were honored on the VaSID All-State singles second team, marking the second straight year the Lady Flames have featured two all-state singles players. Last year, Soli was a first team honoree, and Lara Soares made the second team.

Soli is the third player in program history to earn all-state singles honors twice, joining Jordan Jenkins (2008-09) and Jonita Randolph (2006-07). The native of Carson, Calif. was a perfect 9-0 at No. 1 singles in the spring and held a 16-5 overall singles record during the 2019-20 campaign. Soli earned two ASUN Conference Player of the Week awards this spring (Jan. 22, Feb. 12), bringing her career total to three.

The senior, who was honored as the 2020 ITA Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year earlier this week, also earned a ranked win over No. 20 Asuka Kawai of Illinois in the fall at the Oracle ITA Masters.

Lovato, a freshman, led Liberty with 18 total singles victories on the year against only five losses. The Austin, Texas, native went 9-2 in spring singles competition. She was 1-0 in the No. 1 slot, 3-0 in the No. 3 position and 5-2 in the No. 4 slot. The rookie closed the season with five straight victories and earned ASUN Player of the Week honors, Feb. 26.

Liberty finished the 2020 campaign with a 7-4 overall record before the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Lady Flames led all ASUN teams with four conference player of the week awards.
