Amber Bishop was named ASUN Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Following an impressive showing at the Liberty Softball Classic, Liberty senior infielder Amber Bishop has been named ASUN Softball Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Hailing from Murrieta, Calif., Bishop receives her fifth career conference player of the week award and second this season. She is the first Liberty player since Autumn Bishop in 2018 to be named conference player of the week in back-to-back weeks.

In four games at the Liberty Softball Classic, she batted 6-for-10 with four homers, nine RBI, three walks, a .692 on base percentage and 1.800 slugging percentage. Bishop helped the Lady Flames boost their overall winning streak to six games, as she has posted seven homers and 16 RBI during Liberty's last six games. The senior now leads the ASUN with eight omers, twice as many as the next player.

On Friday against Hofstra, she went 3-for-4 with one homer and three RBI. Her three-run homer in the third doubled Liberty's lead to 6-0 and also made her Liberty's all-time hits leader.

During Friday's 8-1 win over Penn, she extended her home run streak to four games, going 1-for-1 with a homer, one RBI, two runs scored and two walks. She became the first Lady Flame since 2007 to homer in four straight games when she hit a solo shot in the first inning.

Bishop terrorized Elon's pitching on Sunday, going 2-for-2 with two homers, five RBI, two runs scored and a walk in an 8-0 five-inning win over the Phoenix. She homered in both the firs t(two-run) and second (three-run) innings. It was the second time in eight days (also last Sunday against Michigan) that Bishop homered twice while driving in five runs.

The Lady Flames (7-11) fly to Texas and will compete in the Longhorn Invitational, Friday through Sunday in Austin, Texas. While in the Longhorn State, Liberty will take on Texas and New Mexico twice each, with one game against Texas Southern.
