After posting clutch performances during the Gamecock Invitational, Liberty senior infielder Amber Bishop has been named ASUN Softball Player of the Week.

Hailing from Murrieta, Calif., Bishop receives her fourth career conference player of the week award. She was named Big South Player of the Week once each during both her freshman and sophomore seasons and was voted ASUN Player of the Week April 8, 2019. She is the first Lady Flame to received conference player of the week mention all four years.

Last week, Bishop hit .417 (5-for-12) with three homers, seven RBI and four runs scored. She also had a .500 on base percentage and 1.167 slugging percentage.

In two games on Sunday, she went a combined 5-for-6 with three homers and seven RBI, adding two walks. She has reached base safely in each of her last seven plate appearances.

On Sunday against No. 6 Michigan, she went 2-for-3 with two homers and five RBI, helping Liberty knock off the Wolverines. With Liberty trailing 5-1 after two outs in the fifth, she launched a three-run shot to narrow the gap to 5-4. She later led off the seventh with a walk-off solo homer off of 2018 NFCA All-American Meghan Beaubien. Bishop is the first Lady Flame to hit two homers in a game against a nationally-ranked team.

She followed that game up with a 2-for-2 contest in a 12-3 win over Elon, adding a homer, two RBI, two runs scored and two walks. Bishop got Liberty on the board with a second-inning solo homer and later added an RBI single.

Bishop leads the ASUN in home runs (4) and is the team leader with nine RBI on the season.

The Lady Flames (3-11) open their home schedule on Friday, hosting the Liberty Softball Classic. Liberty will take on ECU at 3 p.m. on Friday before facing Penn at 5 p.m. The Lady Flames then take on Elon at 3 p.m. and Hofstra at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.
