How It Happened • Liberty's No. 1 and No. 2 doubles pairings proved the hosts an early 1-0 edge. The Lady Flames top pairing, Kalani Soli and Eloise Saraty, earned a dominant 6-0 result over Kiana Marshall and Lyndell Giffenig on court one. Nguyen and Ode Mitre followed it up with a 6-3 triumph of their own versus Emily Dunbar and Dessi Zlateva. Both doubles units are 6-1 in doubles, this spring. • Soli and Saraty are 4-1 in the No. 1 position and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles. Nguyen and Ode Mitre hold a 1-1 record in the No. 1 slot and 5-0 record at No. 2 doubles. • Richmond briefly evened the match at 1-1 when Andrea Compodonico (No. 5 singles) defeated Micaela Ode Mitre in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). • After resting during the doubles session, Liberty freshman Esther Lovato topped Lea Owens of the Spiders in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 on court four. Lovato's seventh victory in spring singles bouts gave Liberty a 2-1 lead. • The Lady Flames' Nguyen defeated Marshall (Richmond) in two sets (6-2, 6-2) on court three to bring the home side within a point of victory (3-1). Liberty sophomore Alexandra Almborg wrapped up the victory with a straight-sets (6-4, 6-3) victory over Zlateva at No. 2 singles.
