Lady Flames News and Notes

  • Seven current Lady Flames were on the roster the last time Liberty squared off with Virginia Tech in 2017: Molly Blake, Grace Fletcher, Jenna Joyal, Hannah Quast, Sarah Steenson, Aubrie Tarris and Carly White.
  • Junior attacker Anna Keebler scored five goals in the season opener, tied for the fourth best among any Division I player on opening weekend. She is one of three Lady Flames to score five times in an opener, joining Sam Struss (2015 vs. Virginia Tech) and current assistant coach Nina Dunay (2011 vs. St. Francis (Pa.)). No Liberty player has ever scored six or more goals in a season opener. Keebler currently ranks fifth in the nation in goals per game (5.00).
  • Senior midfielder Carly White won a career-best 10 draw controls in the Lady Flames' season opener against the Oregon Ducks. White also added three goals, one assist, four points, three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the contest. White's 10 draws are tied for the fourth most in a single game in program history, and she ranks third in the country in draw controls per game (10.00).
  • Junior Mia Toscano matched a career high with three goals against Oregon. Senior attacker Jenna Joyal assisted all three of Toscano's goals.
  • Emma Kendrick, Kim Hagerty, Jordan Baerga and Hannah Davis made their first career appearances in the season opener at Oregon. Sophomores Jennifer Soriero (goalkeeper) and Leah Ruby (attacker) made their first career starts against the Ducks.
  • Liberty's 2020 roster features eight seniors, four juniors, 10 sophomores and 12 freshmen. White and Steenson were both named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team. Liberty was picked to finish second in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll, behind only defending champion Jacksonville.
  • Liberty wrapped up last season at No. 31 in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse RPI, its best ledgering to end a year in program history. Virginia Tech finished 34th in the RPI. The Lady Flames won a program-record 14 games in 2019.
