The Liberty women's tennis squad will host the Georgetown Hoyas at home, Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Crosswhite Athletic Club.

This will be Liberty's first home dual match of the spring. The Lady Flames went a perfect 6-0 at home during the 2019 season and have not lost at home since March 31, 2018.

The Lady Flames are 1-1 on the season after splitting a pair of matches last weekend down in Florida. They defeated Miami (Ohio) 6-1 and dropped a 4-3 decision to Middle Tennessee, with both matches being contested at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

Georgetown enters the weekend with a 0-1 mark. The Hoyas fell 4-3 at Maryland in their season opener, last Saturday.

This is the second-ever meeting between the two schools. Georgetown topped Liberty 7-0 in the Lady Flames' 2012 season opener in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.

Lady Flames News and Notes

  • Liberty has won its last six home openers. All six of those victories have come by a 6-1 or greater margin. Last year, the Lady Flames earned a 7-0 sweep over Navy (Feb. 2, 2019) at Crosswhite Athletic Club in what was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Liberty is 22-4 at home over the last three years.
  • Lady Flames senior Kalani Soli earned ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week recognition on Wednesday from the conference office. She posted a 2-0 record in the No. 1 singles slot and a 2-0 mark at No. 2 doubles with her partner, freshman Eloise Saraty, last weekend. This is Soli's second career ASUN Player of the Week honor.
  • Freshman Esther Lovato is the other Lady Flame who is 2-0 in singles this spring, winning both of her matches in the No. 3 slot in the lineup. The Austin, Texas, native leads all Liberty players with 11 singles victories during the 2019-20 season.
  • The Lady Flames were picked as the conference co-favorites, along with North Florida, in the ASUN Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • Five of Liberty's first six matches are away from Lynchburg (two neutral site, three road). The Lady Flames will head to Navy for their next match, Feb. 1.
  • In November, Liberty Athletics unveiled plans to build an indoor tennis facility on campus. The 75,000-square foot facility is expected to be completed in January 2021 and will feature six indoor courts.
