To Purchase Tickets to First Pitch Banquet

The Liberty Athletics Department, the Flames Club and the Liberty Flames baseball program invite Liberty alumni and fans to kick off the upcoming 2020 season with a memorable evening at the program's annual First Pitch Banquet. The banquet is scheduled for Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Montview Student Union Alumni Ballroom.

"On behalf of our entire program, we are eager to kick off the 2020 season with our First Pitch Banquet," stated Liberty Head Coach Scott Jackson. "Last year's event allowed our players, their families, alumni, boosters, and staff to usher in a new season.  We can't wait to enjoy another evening together with those who want to celebrate Liberty Baseball!"

Tickets for the banquet are $30.The deadline to guarantee tickets is Feb. 3. Tickets can be purchased after that date but are subject to availability. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the ticket office at 434-582-SEAT (7328).

Former Liberty All-American and 12-year major leaguer Sid Bream will be the evening's featured speaker.

Bream, a Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer, was one of Liberty's first true athletic stars, as the Flames first baseman from 1979-81. During that time, he earned NAIA and NABC All-America honors and was one of the team's standouts for the Flames during their run to the NAIA National Tournament in 1981. He still holds seven different baseball program records, including the career mark for both batting average (.435) and slugging percentage (.830).

Bream was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 1981 MLB Draft. The 12-year major leaguer and the 1990 Hutch Award winner, Bream helped the Pittsburgh Pirates to the National League Championship Series in 1990 and the Atlanta Braves to back-to-back World Series appearances in 1991 and 1992.

Liberty won the ASUN Championship in its first season as a member of the conference and participated in an NCAA Regional for the sixth time in 2019. The Flames posted a 43-21 overall record, tying the program record for most wins in a single season.

Liberty will open its 2020 season on Feb. 14 at Clemson in Clemson, S.C. Liberty's first home game is slated for Feb. 18 against Radford. First pitch at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
