Liberty Athletics' first-ever Flames Giving Day had a highly successful debut, raising $84,531.71 throughout the 24-hour donation period, last week.
"We are truly grateful to Flames Nation for the many generous contributions in support of our teams and student-athletes, "said Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "We are especially excited about the first time donors who have joined the Flames Club and chosen to Rise With Us."
From 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. last Wednesday, the Liberty University Flames Club staged a call center on the third floor of the Carter Tower at Williams Stadium. Liberty Athletics coaches and staff members spent the day reaching out to all members of Flames Nation, asking for their financial support to help Train Champions for Christ.
Between funds raised from the call center and online giving throughout the day, the Flames Club saw a total of 342 donors contribute, including 262 new donors. The one-day giving drive had 14 gifts of $1,000 or more.
Donations came in from 43 different states with 91.32 percent of the donations going specifically to one of Liberty's 20 NCAA Division programs. The remaining funds were designated for the Flames Club's annual fund.
Each Liberty Athletics program was active in the Giving Day efforts with the Lady Flames volleyball program raising the most money throughout the day. Liberty's softball program had the most individual gifts (50), followed directly by the women's lacrosse program (49).
Fans can support Liberty Athletics by joining the Flames Club, which exists to underwrite Liberty Athletics' three-fold mission to train Champions for Christ, provide a world-class student-athlete experience and achieve victory with integrity.
Flames Club membership starts at just $60 and members can enjoy preferred parking, seating and pregame hospitality benefits, based upon membership level. For more information about the Flames Club, please call 434-582-CLUB (2582) or email FlamesClub@liberty.edu.
