Liberty redshirt sophomore Brittany Carnathan was voted to the 2019 ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team by the league's sports information directors and academic advisors, becoming the first Lady Flame to earn this prestigious academic honor.

A first-year member of the Liberty women's cross country team, Carnathan maintains a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. She is one of four runners on the 2019 ASUN Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team with a 4.0 GPA.

Carnathan has made an immediate impact for the Lady Flames. Most recently, the Selinsgrove, Pa., native placed 14th at the ASUN Cross Country Championships to make the second team all-conference squad. Carnathan's efforts helped the Lady Flames place second at the ASUN meet for the second consecutive season.

Carnathan opened her collegiate career with back-to-back top-five finishes, placing second at the Liberty Challenge and fourth at the FGCU Invitational. She has posted top times of 17:57 in the 5K and 21:57 in the 6K this season.

Carnathan and the Lady Flames will next compete on Friday, taking part in the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships. The meet, which will determine the qualifiers for the 2019 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, will take place at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The women's 6K will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's 10K at 11:30.
