Liberty concluded its three-matches-in-five-days road trip with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22) setback at conference-leading FGCU in Alico Arena on Tuesday, as the Eagles avenged their lone league loss.
FGCU (22-3. 10-1 ASUN) ran its winning streak to 12 matches, as the Eagles have not lost since a conference-opening 3-0 loss at Liberty on Sept. 24. The Lady Flames fall to 14-9, 7-4 in ASUN play after a 2-1 road trip that started with wins at NJIT (Friday) and Jacksonville (Sunday).
Notable Numbers • For the match, FGCU outhit Liberty .197-.103. The Eagles also led in blocks (10-7) and aces (3-1), while Liberty held a 58-53 advantage in digs.
• FGCU's Erin Shomaker led all players with 10 kills, while Cortney VanLiew and Dana Axner both collected 16 digs. Chelsey Lockey dished out 35 assists, while Daniele Serrano posted seven blocks. • Amelia Johnson and Casey Goodwin tied for team high honors with nine kills apiece for Liberty, while Johnson collected 10 digs. Hannah Morris registered a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs, while Macy Phillips collected a match-high 20 digs. Anna Gragg posted five blocks.

Match Summary SET 1 • The Eagles scored the final five points of set one, pulling away for a 25-17 victory. The hosts outhit their guests .220-.132 in the first set.
SET 2 • FGCU led Liberty 14-4 before the Lady Flames fought back to within three at 15-12 and again at 21-18 and 22-29. The Eagles finished off a 25-20 set-two victory.
SET 3 • Both teams found their stride on offense in the third, as FGCU hit .256 compared to .250 for the Lady Flames. FGCU held a 21-17 lead before Liberty pulled to within two on three occasions. Shomaker ended it at 25-22 with a kill.
Quick Hits • This was the second match this season where Liberty did not have a player score in double figures in kills (also vs. NJIT on Oct. 11).
• Gragg became the sixth player in program history, and first since Kendle Rollins (2010-13), to record 400 career blocks.
• This was the second time in the last three matches that Phillips collected 20 digs in a three-set match, as she had 20 digs in a 3-0 win at NJIT on Friday.
• FGCU is now 4-1 all-time in volleyball against Liberty.
