With the start of the 2019-20 men's and women's basketball seasons rapidly approaching, the Flames will host the Liberty Basketball Tip-Off Banquet on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public and will take place at the Montview Student Union Alumni Ballroom, where season ticket holders, Flames Club members and Flames fans will get a chance to meet both the men's and women's basketball teams. The banquet will begin with hors d'oeuvres followed up with dinner.

Tickets cost $30 and may be purchased here, by contacting the Flames Club at (434) 582-CLUB (2582), logging into their Flames Club account, or emailing

Fans can guarantee seats for the event by purchasing tickets by Monday, Oct. 21. After that date, seats will remain subject to availability.

Throughout the banquet, fans will hear from both men's head coach, Ritchie McKay, and women's head coach, Carey Green.

McKay's men's basketball squad is coming off the best season in program history. The 2018-19 Flames went 29-7, captured ASUN Conference regular-season and tournament titles and won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game.

Four of the Flames' five starters return this season, headlined by the first team All-ASUN duo of redshirt senior guard Caleb Homesley and redshirt senior forward Scottie James.

The Lady Flames reached the ASUN Championship title game during their first season in the conference in 2018-19, closing the year with a 12-4 record in their last 16 contests.

Five of the Lady Flames' top six scorers from 2018-19 are back this season, including second team All-ASUN performer Bridgette Rettstatt. Keyen Green, the 2018 Big South Player of the Year, will also be back on the court after missing last season due to injury.

The Flames and Lady Flames will tip off their 2019-20 home schedules with a doubleheader at the Vines Center on Nov. 8. That evening, the Lady Flames will host ETSU at 5 p.m. followed by a Liberty-Radford men's basketball clash at 7 p.m.
