Muamba dropped his match on Saturday at the prestigious Oracle ITA Masters event.
Flames men's tennis player Nicaise Muamba fell in the consolation quarterfinals of the Oracle ITA Masters, Saturday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
Muamba, who is ranked No. 65 in the country dropped a 7-6 (6), 6-3 decision to No. 32 Gui Osorio of San Diego. The Liberty junior wraps up his time at the prestigious tournament with a 1-2 singles mark.
Muamba and Osorio both won 70 total points in the match. Muamba held edges in first serve points won (73 percent to 71 percent) and first return points won (29 percent to 27 percent).
Osorio topped Muamba in first serve percent (73 percent to 64 percent), second serve percent (89 percent to 88 percent), second serve points won (53 percent to 52 percent), game points won (67 percent to 53 percent), second return points won (48 percent to 47 percent), break points won (33 percent to 25 percent) and break points won (33 percent to 25 percent).
Muamba has three singles victories so far this year while playing against elite competition at the Oracle ITA Masters and South Carolina Gamecock Ranked + 1 (last weekend).
Muamba will be back in action starting next Saturday at the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament, hosted at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center, will run through Oct. 13. Pre-qualifying will be held Oct. 5-6, followed by qualifying Oct. 7-8 and main draw play Oct. 9-13. Muamba will be joined at the tournament by his teammates Josh Wilson, Chase Burton and Goncalo Ferreira.
