Wilson finished 2-1 in singles, this weekend at the Gamecock Fall Invitational.
Liberty's Josh Wilson and Nicaise Muamba earned a doubles victory on the third and final day of the Gamecock Ranked + 1 Fall Invitational on Sunday at the Carolina Tennis Center. Additionally, Wilson collected his second singles win of the weekend.
Wilson and Muamba defeated host South Carolina's Thomas Brown and Beau Pelletier 8-3 in doubles, Sunday morning. In singles, Wilson defeated Franco Aubone of Miami (Fla.) in three sets (6-0, 1-6, 6-1). Wilson went 2-1 in singles this weekend and holds a 5-2 mark in the fall.
Meanwhile, Muamba lost a three-set match to Pelletier in singles (6-4, 1-6, 6-3). The Flames junior, who is ranked 65th in the nation in singles, posted a 2-2 singles mark in his first fall tournament of the season.
"This weekend was just what the doctor ordered for Nic and Josh. They got some high-level match play in, and now we know what we need to work on starting on Tuesday," said Liberty assistant coach Trevor Foshey. "They represented Liberty with absolute class, and to us that's a big focus point. The tennis will come with all the hard work they put in, but I'm really proud of them for the way they handled themselves the whole weekend and for focusing on the process."
Wilson and Muamba captured a combined four singles matches and picked up one doubles win at the event. The Gamecock Fall Invitational featured a high-caliber group of teams, including: Wake Forest, Tennessee, North Carolina, Miami (Fla.), Alabama, Auburn, Texas, Arizona, SMU, ETSU, Tulane and Fresno State.
Muamba will be back in action at the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif., starting Thursday. The event will be held at Malibu Racquet Club and at Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Full tournament information can be found here.
The next tournament the Flames will send multiple players to will be the Richmond Invitational, Oct. 11-13.
