No. 13 Liberty dropped its first game of the season by a 1-0 score to No. 18 Wake Forest on Sunday at Kentner Stadium.
Demon Deacons midfielder Laia Vancells scored on a penalty corner in the second quarter to give Wake Forest the only goal it needed. Liberty managed a season-low nine shots but also gave up only two shots to Wake Forest in the game, also a season low.
The Lady Flames are now 5-1 and see their five-game winning streak to start the season snapped. Wake Forest improves to 2-5 and ends a three-game losing skid with the victory.

Turning Point Wake Forest drew its only short corner of the first half in the 18th minute and converted with the only goal of the game. Vancells' shot, a top off a feed from Nat Friedman, found the left half of the goal cage for her second goal of the year. The goal made it 1-0 Demon Deacons and proved to be the game winner.
