Brabrand, McInvale Earn All-Region Honors

Liberty pitchers Evan Brabrand and Andrew McInvale have been named to the 2019 Atlantic-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team. The region's head coaches selected the team.

Yesterday, Brabrand was named to the PerfectGame (PG) and NCBWA All-America teams. With his selections, the right-hander has been listed on three All-America squads, as he also garnered 2019 Collegiate Baseball All-America team honors, two weeks ago.

Brabrand, a redshirt senior, posted a 4-3 record with 13 saves and a 1.56 ERA over 63 1/3 innings for 43-21 ASUN Champion Liberty, this season. In 25 appearances, all in relief, the Raleigh, N.C., native struck out 66 and walked 13.

A first team ASUN All-Conference member, Brabrand finished the season 11th nationally and as the ASUN leader in saves. He etched his name in the program's record books, completing the year second on the Flames' all-time single-season saves list.

During the year, Brabrand was named to the Midseason Update for the 15th NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award and was selected to the PG All-America team. He was one of four relief pitchers selected to the squad.

The right-hander was one of three Flames taken in last week's Major League Baseball Draft. The Miami Marlins chose Brabrand in the ninth round. With his selection, Liberty has had at least one player chosen in each draft since 2000.

McInvale earned 2019 ASUN All-Conference second team honors and was voted to the 2019 ASUN All-Tournament team in his only season at Liberty. The redshirt junior posted a 10-3 record with a 3.41 ERA over 103 innings. In 17 appearances, all starts, the right-hander struck out 101 batters and walked 40.

McInvale is currently 11th nationally and finished the year as the ASUN Conference leader in wins. The Austin, Texas native also etched his name in the program's record books as his 10 wins and 101 strikeouts are both second most in a single season in school history.

The right-hander finished the year leading the ASUN Conference in innings pitched. He also completed the year among the ASUN leaders in strikeouts (third) and ERA (ninth).

In addition to his conference honors, McInvale was listed among the top pitchers in the country on the 2019 National Pitcher of the Year Award Watch List.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected the right-hander during the 37th round. With his selection, Liberty has now had 71 players taken in the MLB Draft during the 46-year history of its program.
