• Liberty will make its sixth NCAA Regional appearance and its first since 2014 on Friday. The Flames claimed the ASUN Baseball Championship in their first year in the conference and its automatic bid.
• The Flames enter the Chapel Hill, N.C., Regional with a 42-19 record. Liberty's 42 wins are one shy of the program record of 43 set by the 2010 Flames.
• Liberty Head Coach Scott Jackson was an assistant coach at North Carolina and UNCW.
• Liberty has won 40 or more games for the first time in Head Coach Scott Jackson's three-year tenure and the fifth time in program history. 
• Liberty catcher Jonathan Embry was named the 2019 ASUN Player of the Year. He also earned ASUN Tournament MVP honors. Embry was joined by second baseman Will Wagner and reliever Evan Brabrand on the ASUN All-Conference first team.

Liberty in NCAA Regionals
• Liberty will be making its sixth NCAA Regional appearance and its first since 2014. The Flames have gained a regional berth with a conference automatic bid five times, while earning an at-large selection in 2014.
 • Liberty has previously participated in a NCAA Division I Regional in 1993, 1998, 2000, 2013 and 2014. The Flames captured Big South Championships in 1993, 1998, 2000 and 2013 to earn inclusion in the NCAA field.
• In 2013 and 2014, the Flames participated in a NCAA Regional in back-to-back seasons for the only time in program history.

Chapel Hill, N.C. Regional
• Liberty will be joined by regional host North Carolina, Tennessee and UNCW at the 2019 Chapel Hill, N.C. Regional.
• North Carolina is the No. 1 seed, Tennessee the No. 2 seed, Liberty the No. 3 and UNCW the No. 4 seed.
• Three of the four teams in the regional were tournament champions.

 -  North Carolina - Atlantic Coast (ACC)
  - UNCW - Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)

• Liberty faced three teams this season which made 2019 NCAA Baseball Regional fields, with two of those teams in the Chapel Hill Regional.  The Flames won both of its games with Duke, split a pair of contest with North Carolina and lost to Tennessee in February.

Flames One Shy of Program Record for Wins
• Liberty's 4-3 victory in the ASUN title game pushed their record to 42-19 on the season. The Flames' 42 wins are one shy of the program record for victories in a single season of 43 set during the 2010 season. Liberty posted a 43-18 mark that season.
• The Flames reached 40 wins in a season for the first time under Head Coach Scott Jackson with a 5-2 victory over Jacksonville in Game 9 of the ASUN Baseball Championship, this past Saturday. 
• Liberty has won 40 or more games for five times in a single season in program history. Besides this season, the Flames also won 40 or more in 1983, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Program Strikeout Kings
• The Flames have set a new program record for strikeouts in a season. Liberty pitchers enter the weekend having struck out 540 batters, eclipsing the previous program record of 508 set in 2008.
• The previous mark set in 2008 came under current head coach Scott Jackson in his only season as the Flames' pitching coach.
• Right-handers Noah Skirrow and Andrew McInvale lead the way for the Flames. Skirrow is currently fourth on the program's single season strikeout list with 98, while McInvale with 97 is fifth on that list.
• Skirrow leads the ASUN by averaging 11.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

Around the Diamond

  • The 2019 ASUN Player of the Year Jonathan Embry also took home ASUN Tournament MVP honors, this past weekend. The catcher hit . 474 with two doubles and a home run during the ASUN Tournament. He collected five RBI and scored four times.
  • 1B Logan Mathieu tied for the ASUN lead with 51 RBI. The sophomore has had 15 games in which he has driven in two or more runs this season.
  • 2B Will Wagner has 17 multi-hit games, this season, including five with three or more. The ASUN All-Conference first team infielder leads the Flames with 70 hits.
  • 3B Tyler Galazin has made the most of his final days of his collegiate career. After hitting around .250  for most of 2019, the senior's bat has come alive during the month of May. He has hit .387 over 17 games in May to lead the Flames. The senior has raised his batting average 36 points to enter the week with a .286 average for the year. The team leader in multi-hit games with 20, Galazin has eight during the month, including three three-hit contests.
  • SS Cam Locklear was named to the 2019 ASUN All-Tournament team after hitting .286 with five RBI in Liberty's six games during the tournament. The junior has recorded 18 multi-hit games this season.
  • LF Gray Betts was named to the 2019 ASUN All-Tournament team. The freshman hit .304 with four RBI and a .414 on base percentage during the tournament. Betts saw the longest reached base safely streak by a Flame this season come to an end at 33 games on Saturday.
  • RF Brandon Rohrer earned selection to the ASUN All-Tournament team, last week. The sophomore hit .350 and scored three runs during the championship. He walked four times and posted a .440 on base percentage.
  • DH Ben Highfill has driven in a team-high nine runs over the last 10 games. The junior has scored a team-high 20 runs over the last 20 games.
  • P Andrew McInvale was named to the ASUN All-Tournament team after pitching six shutout innings in the ASUN title game to record his 10th victory of the season. The ASUN All-Conference team member won each of his starts in the tournament.
  • Right-hander Noah Skirrow did not allow a run in two appearances during the ASUN Baseball Championship. In only his second relief appearance of 2019, Skirrow picked up the win with 4 1/3 scoreless innings in the Flames' 3-2 victory over North Florida in 12 innings, Friday. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.  
  • P Landon Riley did not allow a run in  two appearances during the ASUN Baseball Championship. The sophomore recorded his second win of the season with 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in Liberty's 5-2 victory over Jacksonville  on Saturday. 
  • P Evan Brabrand picked up two saves during the ASUN Baseball Championship to up his season total to 13. The right-hander pitched the final three innings to seal Liberty's 4-3 win over Stetson for his 13th save on Sunday. He is now second on Liberty's all-time saves list.
