Purchase 2019 Liberty Football Season Tickets
All six of Liberty's 2019 home football games will air on ESPN+ and five of the Flames' six home games will be played under the lights at Williams Stadium.
ESPN announced a major portion of its college football coverage plan today, which included details about Liberty's six home football games. The subscription-based service of ESPN+ launched April 2018 and currently has over two million paying subscribers.
As part of ESPN's all-encompassing college football release, kickoff times were also released for Liberty's home football games. Five of the Flames' first six home football games of the 2019 season will kick off at 6 p.m., while the Flames' home finale against New Mexico State on Nov. 30 will kick off at 2 p.m.
Also included in today's ESPN release was information about Liberty's road matchups against Louisiana and BYU. The Sept. 7 game at Louisiana will air on ESPN+ and kickoff at 7:30/6:30 p.m. EST/CST. The BYU matchup on Nov. 9 will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU and kickoff time will be announced 12 days from game day.
Liberty Athletics and ESPN announced a multi-year agreement for the exclusive media rights to Liberty's home football games, last August.
A unique aspect of the football broadcast agreement with ESPN is that Liberty's own LFSN team produces the content that is carried on ESPN digital platforms for each of the home games. This Emmy Award-winning team has produced more than 300 events for national distribution over the past two years.
The talent team for Liberty/ESPN games will be Matt Warner (play-by-play) and Joe Jauch (analyst), returning for their second year together. The LFSN coverage will also include pre-game, halftime and postgame (Facebook Live) analysis from a special set which has been included in the east side of the Williams Stadium expansion project.
The agreement does provide for ESPN to choose any home football event to be aired on one of its linear networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU). As Liberty is an FBS independent football program, the live coverage rights are Liberty's to offer to a distributor.
There are six FBS independent programs, which have rights agreements: Notre Dame (NBC), Brigham Young (ESPN), Army (CBS), UMass (11 Sports/NESN) and New Mexico State (FOX Arizona).
