2019 ASUN Baseball Championship Tournament Central
The Liberty Flames will be the No. 2 seed for this week's ASUN Baseball Championship in DeLand, Fla. The seedings and pairings for the double-elimination tournament were announced, following the close of the 2019 regular season, last night. The six-team tournament will be contested, Wednesday-Saturday at Conrad Park in DeLand, Fla.
The Flames finished their first season in the ASUN Conference second in the league standings with a 15-9 record in conference play to claim the No. 2 seed for the tournament. Liberty, 37-18 overall, will play the No. 5 seed North Florida Ospreys in the second game of the day on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Ospreys completed their regular season with a 12-11 mark in ASUN play and 31-23 overall record.
Liberty swept North Florida in a three-game series at Liberty Baseball Stadium, March 29-31.
The winner of the North Florida-Liberty match-up will advance to play the winner of No. 4 seed Jacksonville and No. 3 seed Lipscomb in Game 6 of the tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m. The loser will face the loser of Game 1 between No. 6 seed and host Stetson and No. 1 seed Florida Gulf Coast in Game 4, an elimination game, on Thursday at 11 a.m.
The top six teams in the ASUN's regular season standings qualified for the 2019 ASUN Baseball Championship. The tournament is double elimination with champion receiving the conference's automatic bid to an NCAA Regional.
The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles captured the league's regular season title and the first seed in the tournament with a 16-7 record in conference play. The Eagles will square off with No. 6 seed Stetson in Game 1 of the ASUN Baseball Championship on Wednesday.
Lipscomb, 14-10 in conference action, garnered the No. 3 seed, while Jacksonville, 13-11 in the ASUN, claims the No. 4 seed. The two squads will meet in the final game of the day on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
