•After dropping back-to-back games for the first time since the first week of the 2019 season, Liberty will look to get back in the win column when its sqaures off with the Jacksonville Dolphins in a three-game ASUN Conference series, this weekend
 • In their first season in the ASUN Conference, the Flames are tied with Florida Gulf Coast for first place in the conference's standings with a 9-3 record. Liberty has not played a conference game since taking two of the three games from ASUN defending champion Stetson in a conference series at Liberty Baseball Stadium, April 13-14.
• The Flames enter the weekend with a 7-7 road mark. Liberty fell 6-3 at Virginia in its last outing on Tuesday.
• Liberty leads the ASUN Conference  with a 3.06 team ERA. The Flames rank ninth nationally. In addition, the Liberty mound corps also ranks ninth nationally in WHIP (1.18) and 10th in hits allowed per nine innings (7.16).

Brabrand Listed on NCBWA Midseason Watch List
Liberty relief pitcher Evan Brabrand has been named to the Midseason Update for the 15th National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award. The redshirt senior was one of the 45 top relief pitchers named to the list.

Brabrand enters this weekend's ASUN Conference three-game series at Jacksonville with a 2-1 record and nine saves in 15 appearances. The right-hander has posted a 0.81 ERA over 33 1/3 innings, while striking out 45 and walking seven. Currently, he leads the ASUN Conference and is among the top 15 nationally in saves.

McInvale Named to National Pitcher of the Year Watch List
Liberty right-hander Andrew McInvale is one of 69 pitchers listed on the first watch list for the 2019 National Pitcher of the Year Award. The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, is presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.

 McInvale enters the weekend with a 7-1 record with a 2.86 ERA over a team-high 63 innings pitched. The redshirt junior has struck out 69 and walked 21 in 10 starts this season. He has held his opponents to a .218 batting average.

The Austin, Texas native leads the ASUN Conference and is 10th nationally in victories. The right-hander is also among the conference leaders in innings pitched (2nd), ERA (4th), strikeouts (4th), hits allowed per nine innings (4th) and opponent batting average (4th).

Around the Diamond

  • C Jonathan Embry has hit .352 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 21 runs scored over his last 15 games. The redshirt junior has reached base safely in all 15 contests and recorded at least one hit in 13 of them. He has hit a home run in each of the last three games.
  • 1B Logan Mathieu leads the Flames and is currenlty third in the ASUN with 35 RBI. The sophomore has driven in 21 runs over his last 20 games and leads Liberty with 10 multi-RBI games.
  • 2B Will Wagner has reached base safely in 20 consecutive games, the longest reached base streak by a Flame this season. During the stretch, the sophomore has 25 hits and walked  12 times for a .415 on base percentage.
  • Over the last 10 games, SS Cam Locklear has a team-high .400 batting average with three home runs and eight RBI and scored 11 runs. He also drew eight bases on balls and posted a .533 on base percentage.
  • LF Gray Betts enters the weekend with a six-game hitting streak, a career-high for the freshman. Since entering the starting lineup on March 24, Betts has hit .352 with a .500 on base percentage over 18 games. 
  • CF Jaylen Guy has hit .262 and scored nine runs in the Flames' 12 ASUN Conference games. The freshman enters the weekend with a five-game hit streak, a career-high.
  • RF Brandon Rohrer has hit .426 with nine RBI and 14 runs scored in Liberty's 12 ASUN Conference games.
  • Right-hander Noah Skirrow enters the weekend second in the ASUN with 73 strikeouts.  The sophomore paces the conference with 11.80 strikeouts per nine innings.
  • Reliever Logan Barker has allowed only one run over 11 innings in his last seven appearances. He has struck out 12 batters and walked one during the span.
  • Since March 22, left-hander Joseph Adametz has posted a 4-0 record with a 1.78 ERA in five starts. In 30 1/3 innings, the freshman has struck out 29 and walked seven. Last Saturday, he pitched a career-high seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 shutout of North Carolina A&T.
