Liberty right-hander Andrew McInvale is one of 69 pitchers listed on the first watch list for the 2019 National Pitcher of the Year Award.
The Pitcher of the Year Award, sponsored by Diamond, is presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
McInvale enters the week with a 7-1 record with a 2.86 ERA over a team-high 63 innings pitched. The redshirt junior has struck out 69 and walked 21 in 10 starts this season. He has held his opponents to a .218 batting average.
The Austin, Texas native leads the ASUN Conference and is 10th nationally in victories. The right-hander is also among the conference leaders in innings pitched (2nd), ERA (4th), strikeouts (4th), hits allowed per nine innings (4th) and opponent batting average (4th).
McInvale and the Flames, 29-10, begin a nine-game road trip, this evening. Liberty will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to square off with the Virginia Cavaliers. First pitch at Disharoon Park is scheduled for 6 p.m.
