First place in the ASUN Conference standings will be on the line on Sunday afternoon when the Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse squad plays at Coastal Carolina.

Match time between the Liberty Lady Flames (9-2, 2-0 ASUN) and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-2, 2-0 ASUN) is pegged for noon at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

Sunday's showdown pits two teams who are both 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Flames, who were picked to finish third in the ASUN, are off to their best start in program history at 9-2 and have won five straight games. A win over Coastal Carolina would give Liberty a program-record six-match winning streak. The Chanticleers, who were picked to finish second in the ASUN, have also won five straight contests.

Liberty picked up two wins last weekend over Old Dominion (14-8 last Friday) and Stetson (21-6 last Sunday). Coastal Carolina already has a pair of home victories this week over Kent State (19-2 on Tuesday) and Howard (26-2 on Friday).

The Lady Flames are 5-0 on the road in 2019, while the Chanticleers are 6-0 at home this year.

Sunday's game between Liberty and Coastal Carolina renews a rivalry which started when both squads were Big South Conference members. The all-time series is currently tied at 3-3, with the last showdown occurring in 2016. The Chanticleers won the last matchup 9-8 in double overtime of the Big South Lacrosse Championship quarterfinals on April 30, 2016.
