Soli is Liberty's first-ever ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Liberty junior Kalani Soli has been selected as the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

The recognition, handed out by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon, is the first of Soli's Lady Flames career. She is also the first Liberty women's tennis player to be honored as the ASUN Player of the Week.

"Kalani is such a student of the game, always asking questions and learning! So I'm not surprised by her success this spring," stated Lady Flames head coach Jeff Maren. "She will continue to get better and have success because she is driven to discover her maximum potential. We are very proud of Kalani and look forward to watching her play again this weekend!"

Soli won all five matches she played last week while in Florida, facing opponents from Florida Atlantic, Chattanooga and Florida Gulf Coast. The junior from Carson, Calif. went 3-0 at No. 2 singles, winning all three matches in straight sets. Soli's efforts helped Liberty to a 2-1 record during spring break, including victories at FAU and against Chattanooga (neutral-site match at FGCU).

In her first season with the Lady Flames, Soli is 15-6 in singles and shares the team lead with seven spring singles triumphs. She has an unblemished 6-0 mark in the No. 2 slot of the lineup and has won her last five singles bouts overall.

In doubles, Soli won both of her matches with her partner, sophomore Grace Hashiguchi. Their 6-4 victory over the FAU Owls' No. 2 duo sealed the doubles point for the Lady Flames in an eventual 4-3 victory, last Tuesday.

On Sunday in conference play against FGCU"s Madison Gallegos and Sofia Perez, Soli and Hashiguchi won in a tiebreaker 7-6 (3), helping Liberty take the doubles point. Soli is 7-1 alongside Hashiguchi in spring doubles and owns 14 doubles wins on the year.

Soli is Liberty's first conference player of the week since Maria Medina was named Big South Player of the Week on Feb. 14, 2018.

Soli and the Lady Flames (7-6, 0-1 ASUN) will look to pick up their first ASUN Conference victory at Kennesaw State (1-11, 0-0 ASUN), Saturday. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Betty Siegel Tennis Courts in Kennesaw, Ga.
