The Lady Flames field hockey squad was recently honored in the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Awards.

Liberty received the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for having a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year. The Lady Flames, who posted a 3.25 GPA as a team, were one of 76 Division I schools to earn the recognition. Liberty has received the honor in all eight years of the program's existence.

Additionally, 16 Liberty field hockey student-athletes were included on the Division I National Academic Squad for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year (see below). Senior Lindsay Pratt is now a four-year award recipient. Juniors Mallory Fortenbaugh, Merich Frizzell, Annika Roberts and Allison Schaefer as well as redshirt sophomore Kendra Jones have all made the listing for three straight years.

The NFHCA will announce its Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction a week from today and the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete on April 1.
