Liberty senior Brianna McCaffrey has been named the ASUN Conference Lacrosse Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

This is McCaffrey's second ASUN honor of the season in just three weeks, as she was selected as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week a week ago as well.

She is the first ASUN player this season to receive both player of the week and defensive player of the week recognition. The honor is McCaffrey's first career player of the week recognition and sixth weekly honor of her career (four-time Big South Defensive Player of the Week, last week's ASUN Defensive Player of the Week).

"I am really proud of Bri. She's put the hard work in and plays her heart out for 60 minutes every time she steps on that field," stated Liberty Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Kelly Nangle. "I'm excited for her, and this is a great start to her senior season. I can't wait to see what she continues to accomplish this year."

McCaffrey, a midfielder, had an excellent all-around game against Elon last Saturday and was instrumental in Liberty's 10-6 comeback victory over the Phoenix. The captain scored four goals to go along with four caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls. All four of McCaffrey's goals came in the second half.

She scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 15:56 left, putting Liberty ahead for good (7-6). Her final goal, which made it 9-6 Liberty with 5:55 remaining in the contest, was the 100th of her decorated career. McCaffrey is now one of six Lady Flames in program history with 100 or more career goals.

McCaffrey's four caused turnovers in the game brought her season total to 13. She is currently No. 8 in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.25) and leads the ASUN in that category. McCaffrey has 104 career caused turnovers, the third most among active players at the NCAA Division I level. McCaffrey is also the program leader in career draw controls (191).

Liberty has now received four of the six ASUN weekly honors handed out in the first three weeks of the season.

McCaffrey and the Lady Flames (3-1) will play their third road match of the year on Wednesday, taking on the Robert Morris Colonials (2-0) at 3 p.m. in Moon Township, Pa.
