Lady Flames News and Notes

  • Senior Ashley Bongart received a No. 107 singles national ranking on Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in its Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings. She is the second Lady Flame during the 2018-19 season to be nationally ranked in singles, joining fellow senior Lara Soares (No. 64, Nov. 14). Bongart is currently the only ranked women's player in the ASUN Conference.
  • Senior Maria Medina has been a steady presence in singles with a team-best 14-4 mark on the year. Over the past two seasons, Medina is a combined 35-20 (.636) in singles competition.
  • The Lady Flames are still in search of their first ASUN Player of the Week recipient. Medina was Liberty's most recent honoree, earning Big South Player of the Week honors on Feb. 14, 2018.
  • In 2018, Liberty opened the season on a three-match losing streak. However, the Lady Flames rebounded to win four straight matches.
  • The Lady Flames will be on the road until their next home match, March 30 against ASUN opponent Lipscomb.
  • Liberty is the preseason co-favorite in the ASUN Conference, along with North Florida. The Lady Flames' first-ever ASUN match is on March 17 at Florida Gulf Coast.
  • Arizona (9-16, 0-10 Pac-12 in 2018) competes in the Pac-12 Conference. Grand Canyon (8-15, 2-3 WAC in 2018) is in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
