Bongart is the No. 107 singles player in the nation.
Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings: Feb. 20
Liberty women's tennis senior Ashley Bongart is listed as the No. 107 singles player in the nation in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Women's Rankings, announced by the ITA this week.
The ITA lists the top-125 singles players and top-60 doubles teams in the country. Bongart is the second Lady Flame in the 2018-19 season to be nationally ranked in singles. Fellow senior Lara Soares garnered a No. 64 singles ranking, Nov. 14. Bongart is in the national rankings for the first time in her career.
Bongart is the only ranked women's player in the ASUN Conference. In 2018-19, she boasts a pair of victories against players who are currently nationally ranked – No. 44 Ana Roman Dominguez (South Florida) and No. 70 Marina Guinart (Oklahoma State).
Bongart is 12-8 overall on the year in singles and has two victories so far in the spring. In her two years as a Lady Flame, she is 35-20 (.636) overall in singles competition.
Bongart and the Lady Flames (2-4) will play a pair of matches in Arizona, Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Liberty plays a road match against the Arizona Wildcats (3-3) in Tucson, Ariz., followed by a neutral-site bout against Grand Canyon (2-6) at Arizona. Both matches will start at noon Eastern.
