A strong finish by the Flames allowed No. 29 Liberty to climb up the leaderboard late in the day and finish round two of the 2019 SunTrust Gator Invitational in second place on Saturday.
After opening play on the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards) with a 5-over par 285, Liberty posted the second-best team score during the afternoon flight to finish 36 holes of play at No. 33 Florida's tournament with an overall 2-over par 562 (285-277).
Liberty enters tomorrow's final round five shots behind clubhouse leader Vanderbilt. The Flames will be paired with the Commodores and third-place USF with the final three teams in the 15-team field starting of No. 1 tee at 9:30 a.m.

Field Reflections: • No. 3 Vanderbilt is the only team in the 15-team field to enter the final round in red figures, as the Commodores hold the overall lead with a 3-under par 557 (282-275). • Liberty (3-under par 277) and Vanderbilt (5-under par 275) were the only two teams in the field to play the home course of Florida at an under-par score during the afternoon flight. • Ten teams in the 15-team field are currently ranked in the top 75 in the latest Golfstat national rankings. • Only two shots separate five teams who currently hold down second through sixth place on the team leaderboard.
Birdies and Bogeys – Liberty Team Notes: • Liberty's second-round 3-under par 277 matches the Flames' lowest 18-hole total of the season. • Liberty also carded a 277 during the second round of the Intercollegiate at The Grove tournament on Oct. 8, 2018, hosted by Middle Tennessee at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tenn. • Liberty ranks third in the field in par-5 scoring, having played the par-5 holes at 7-under par during the first 36 holes of play (4.77 scoring average on par-5 holes). • Liberty's Ervin Chang led the charge for the Flames during the second round, as the junior carded a career-low round of 7-under par 63. • Chang's previous career low was a 5-under par 65 during the final round of the General Hacker Championship on March 11, 2018. • Chang's 7-under par 63 matches the lowest 18-hole total in program history, tying Yong Joo, who carded a 9-under par 63 during the 2000 Big South Men's Golf Championship on April 17.
