Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with Interim Cross Country Head Coach Rebekah Ricksecker to recap the recently completed 2018 season.

In their first appearance at the ASUN Cross Country Championships, Liberty finished second in both the men's and women's races.

The Liberty men's squad placed sixth at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, marking the Flames' best regional finish since 2008. The Lady Flames came in 13th at the same meet, posting their highest regional placement since 2010.

Azaria Kirwa enjoyed a stellar senior season, punctuated by his second straight trip to the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, where he placed 81st. Kirwa won four races during the season, headlined by the ASUN Conference men's individual title.

Sophomore Noel Palmer and freshman Calli Parlier paced a youthful women's team. Palmer was the ASUN runner-up and earned all-region honors with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships. Parlier was named ASUN Freshman of the Year after coming in fifth at the conference meet.
