The Starting 5 - Liberty's Top Storylines
• Coming off of a nine-day break for final exams, Liberty (2-6) will travel to East Carolina (5-2) for its first-ever meeting with the Pirates.

• Liberty will be facing an American Athletic Conference team for just the second time in program history and is seeking its first win over an American member.

• After ending the month of November on a four-game losing streak, the Lady Flames tipped off December with their first road win of the season, an 89-86 decision at ETSU on Dec. 13. All five of Liberty's December contests take place away from Lynchburg.

• Mya McMillian was named ASUN Freshman of the Week on Monday, thanks to a career-high eight points at ETSU.

• Sophomores have scored 63.2 percent of Liberty's points this season, and they played a leading role in the Lady Flames' victory at ETSU. Emily Lytle scored a game-high 21 points, Ashtyn Baker added a season-high 18 points and a career-high eight rebounds, while Bridgette Rettstatt chipped in a career-high 16 points and nine boards.

Notes and Anecdotes - Liberty vs. East Carolina
• Liberty and East Carolina are squaring off for the first time, making the Pirates the Lady Flames' third first-time opponent this season, along with Saint Francis (Pa.) and Chattanooga.

• Both teams have suffered close losses to Charlotte this season. The Lady Flames dropped a 63-61 decision to the 49ers at the Christmas City Classic on Nov. 24. One week later, East Carolina fell 52-46 at Charlotte.

• East Carolina is facing its second ASUN opponent this season. The Pirates recorded a 68-56 home victory over Kennesaw State on Nov. 18.

• The Lady Flames and Pirates are both coming off lengthy breaks from competition. Liberty has not played since Dec. 4 (at ETSU), while East Carolina's last game was its Dec. 1 visit to Charlotte.

• Liberty is just 1-4 away from the Vines Center this season, while East Carolina is a perfect 5-0 at home.

• Turnovers will be a key stat to watch on Thursday. Liberty is 1-4 this season when committing more turnovers than its opponent. East Carolina ranks No. 8 nationally, forcing 24.9 turnovers per contest.

• This will mark Liberty's first tipoff before noon since an 11 a.m. home matchup with West Liberty on Dec. 10, 2016.

Liberty in the Tar Heel State
• With Liberty moving to the ASUN Conference this season, the Lady Flames are only playing two games in North Carolina in 2018-19, including Thursday's visit to East Carolina and a Sunday matinee at UNCG.

• This is the fewest games Liberty has played in North Carolina since the 2003-04 season, when the Lady Flames also had two contests in the Tar Heel State (High Point and UNC Asheville).

• Liberty was 3-2 in North Carolina last season.

Liberty vs. American Athletic Conference
• Liberty is seeking its first win against an American Athletic Conference opponent since the league was formed in 2013-14.

• The Lady Flames have only faced one conference opponent previously. Liberty lost 75-68 to Houston at the UMass Thanksgiving Classic in Amherst, Mass., Nov. 24, 2017.

• Liberty will meet another American opponent soon. The Lady Flames are slated to face UCF on Dec. 21 at the St. Pete Shootout in St. Petersburg, Fla.

• Liberty has played against the following American Athletic Conference members when they were part of other leagues: Cincinnati, Houston, SMU, Tulane, UCF and USF.
