After helping Liberty win its first road game of the 2018-19 season, post player Mya McMillian has been named the Lady Flames' first-ever ASUN Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
McMillian scored a career-high eight points during Liberty's 89-86 victory at ETSU on Tuesday, making all three of her field goal attempts and both of her free throws. The native of Marble Falls, Texas also collected three rebounds and came up with a career-high two steals against the Buccaneers.
McMillian was part of Liberty's dominating effort inside the paint. The Lady Flames scored a season-high 48 points in the paint and outrebounded ETSU by 20 boards (47-27). Liberty converted its 17 offensive rebounds into 21 second-chance points.
McMillian and the Lady Flames are currently preparing for a pair of non-conference games in North Carolina. Liberty will travel to East Carolina Thursday at 11:30 a.m. before venturing to UNCG for a 2 p.m. Sunday tipoff.
